Emmanuel Macron au sommet du G5 Sahel en Mauritanie

Les dirigeants du G5 Sahel et le président français se retrouvent ce mardi 30 juin pour un sommet à Nouakchott, en Mauritanie. C’est le premier déplacement hors d’Europe pour Emmanuel Macron depuis la crise du Covid-19, un « signe supplémentaire de solidarité », selon l’Élysée.

Participeront également à cette réunion, Moussa Faki Mahamat, pour l’Union africaine, et Louise Mushikiwabo, pour l’OIF, tout comme le Premier ministre espagnol, Pedro Sanchez. Les discussions seront ensuite élargies en visio-conférence aux dirigeants italien et allemand. Ce sera l’occasion de faire un point sur la stratégie engagée, il y a près de six mois, lors de la dernière réunion à Pau, dans le sud-ouest de la France. Un semestre qui, du point de vue français, a été propice pour l’opération Barkhane.
